5 Days Uganda Birding Safari

After breakfast, you'll begin your birding adventure at the Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC), where you will spot several bird species, including weaver birds, African fish eagles, flycatchers, and more. Later, you will proceed to the Entebbe Botanical Garden for more birdwatching. These lush gardens offer a fantastic variety of birdlife and scenic views, perfect for bird lovers.

After an early breakfast, you'll head to the Heritage Trail for a full day of birding. Look out for exciting bird species such as the Black Cuckoo Shrike, Mustached Warbler, Yellow Bill, and Great Sparrow Hawk. Enjoy a relaxing lunch at the beach, followed by a boat cruise where you can spot papyrus canaries, papyrus gonoleks, and other water birds. After a day filled with birding, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight rest.

Day four takes you to Mabamba Swamp, one of Uganda's most important birding areas, particularly known for its elusive Shoebill Storks. Here, you'll embark on a canoe ride deep into the swamp to observe this rare species along with other water birds such as African jacanas, pygmy geese, and weaver birds. After a picnic lunch, you’ll head back to Kampala for an overnight stay.

On the final day of your birding safari, you’ll visit Mabira National Forest Reserve, a pristine natural forest rich in birdlife. Keep an eye out for species like the Greenbul, Woodpecker, Tinkerbird, Kingfisher, and Weaver birds. After a successful day of birding, you’ll head back to Kampala or Entebbe for your departure.
