Full itinerary

Upon arrival in Juba, South Sudan’s capital, you will be warmly welcomed by a representative of our company. After a short meet-and-greet and pre-safari briefing, you’ll depart northwards towards the Mundari community. Along the way, you’ll observe the landscape of South Sudan, as well as the locals, some of whom move around shirtless due to the region's hot climate.

Pause for lunch at a local spot en route to the camp. In the evening, you’ll arrive at the Mundari cattle camp, where the locals will greet you with open arms. Here, you can witness the spectacular sight of shepherds returning with their cattle at sunset, a daily ritual that beautifully captures the essence of the Mundari way of life.

After a delicious dinner, you’ll settle in at the campsite for a peaceful night under the stars.

Your second day is dedicated to experiencing the culture of the Mundari people, renowned for their cattle-herding traditions. The day begins with a tour of the cattle camp, where you’ll see the stunning white-horned cattle up close, learning about their central role in Mundari society.

Throughout the day, you will engage in various cultural activities:

  • Community walks: Stroll through the village, interacting with locals and learning about their day-to-day life.
  • Traditional dances and cultural displays: The Mundari people will entertain you with lively dances and storytelling, showcasing their vibrant traditions.
  • Cattle herding and wrestling: Witness the Mundari’s deep connection with their cattle, and perhaps watch or even participate in a wrestling match, a sport that holds great cultural significance.

The Mundari people, known for their distinct forehead markings shaped like a "V," will provide you with a window into a world where cattle are more than just livestock – they are a source of wealth, status, and cultural identity.

As the day draws to a close, enjoy the songs and cheers of the community around a fire before retiring to your campsite.

Wake up early to experience the magnificent sunrise over the cattle camp, a serene and spiritual start to the day. After breakfast, you’ll bid farewell to the Mundari people and begin your journey back to Juba. Upon arrival in Juba, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the capital’s lively markets and perhaps enjoy a final lunch in town.

In the afternoon, you’ll be transferred to your preferred drop-off point, whether it’s your hotel or Juba International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your 3 Days Mundari Cattle Camp Tour.
